I was a little nervous about joining a carpool because I didn’t want to be pressured about having to leave work at a certain time,” said Dianne Betancourt, who is in a registered carpool with three colleagues from Mercy Hospital. “But, surprisingly, it’s fun! We talk about Dancing with the Stars and all of the other shows we watch. We’ve developed a great bond. They call us the ‘carpool ladies’.”

Betancourt, who lives in Hollywood, said she is cutting 15-20 minutes off of her commute by riding on the 95 Express lanes. “I also like that I only need to drive one or two times a week. I’m seeing a major saving on my commuting costs.”

V. Field, Aventura:

Depending on the price of gas, I save between $100 and $160 a month,” said Vanessa Fields who lives in Aventura and commutes to Coral Gables. “Plus, we laugh a lot in the car. It is good to be driving with other people. It makes the ride go a lot quicker."

"We originally started carpooling when the gas prices were so high,” said Sheri Dziewit, who commutes 16 miles from her home in Aventura to her job at Procirc in Coral Gables. “When we heard about the 95 Express lanes, we decided to register our carpool. We’re definitely saving time by riding on the express lanes – at least 10-15 minutes a day – and it’s definitely less stressful. You’re not in that bumper to bumper traffic. It’s a much smoother ride."

I want to praise the changes on 95. I am not a daily commuter and do not benefit from the express lane as I exit 103rd or 125th streets. However, the changes on 95 South into downtown are wonderful. And your communication is excellent, tv, radio, signs.

I have been amazed at how these lanes improve traffic flow at a very low cost to the driver. They either remove or relieve bottlenecks at rush hour and are well worth the tolls being charged, particularly when the charges can be varied in price depending on traffic volume....this was a GREAT idea and would improve traffic movement on every highway in the South Florida area......super great idea...Please, we need more!

I LOVE IT!!. I tried it out about a month ago. My son went on the other slow highway and I went on the Express. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Great idea!! I would be willing to pay a little extra to get somewhere without getting stuck in traffic all the time.

I love using the I-95 Express Lanes. I feel like the express lanes are more reliable than the regular lanes on I-95. I also feel the Express Lanes are safer because they are less crowded. Now I would like to see Express Lanes on I-95 Southbound as well.

I only use the Express Lane to go home from Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami to Miramar (Broward County) and get on it by around 4:45 pm. I use the entrance off 10th Ave entrance. The Express Lanes save me about 15 minutes and has been great; previously it would take me about 50 minutes going home using local roads to the Gratigny Pkwy then to I-75, and I always avoided I-95. Now I can get home 35-40 minutes. It's always moving. Wish there was an express lane going to work!

It's great, before it opened, I would never drive from Downtown to Broward during evening rush hour. But the Express Lanes let me do that drive in 15-20 minutes (before, that drive could take over an hour in bad traffic). Now, I can meet friends in Broward after work, or take a flight out of FLL in the early evening.

The 95 Express Lanes provide motorists an option, for their use if and when they need it. The idea of a user fee and pay to ride option is good for the economy and family quality of life. Keep it up and build more of these.

The I-95 Express Lanes have saved me a great deal of time, and believe that it is an excellent idea. I have a registered 3+ carpool and get to use it for free most of the time. However, on some occasions I have to drive to work alone and frequently still use the Express Lanes to save time and aggravation. It encourages people to carpool which reduces the number of cars on the road and helps the environment.

I drive to / from Broward for over 30 yrs.  I was VERY skeptical when construction was going on for the express lane - it was chaotic at best.  However the results are WELL worth the wait and frustration.  The lanes WORK!  THANKS!!!!

An active father of two, David likes that he can spend more time with his family. “I never miss a practice or a game,” he said, commenting on his son’s travelling baseball team. “I used to need to leave the office at 4:30 to get there on time, but now I can stay at work longer and still make it on time."
